Until 1978 Terri was the leader of a chapter in the Children of God. McGowan had the most part of her growing up in the commune. The family often traveled to Europe. McGowan's dad was an artist and his work allowed her to be a model. She was with Vogue Bambini as well as other Italian magazines.
